A set of murky but tantalizing photos have recently surfaced online, showcasing a live prototype of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro. The images were shared on X and captured in public, sparking widespread curiosity among users. Analysts have chimed in to claim that the iPhone 17 Pro prototype photos spotted in the wild are real and that the device is the company’s unreleased flagship handset.

Prominent analyst Mark Gurman reposted the images on X, stating that “This looks legit,” a comment that has fueled further speculation. The photos were posted on the platform by user Fox Puppy, and at this point in time, there are no official confirmations regarding the leak from the company’s end. One photo shows an individual, likely an Apple employee, holding the iPhone 17 Pro test prototype in a thick, camouflage-like black case that obscures the design of the handset.

It can be seen that the cutouts on the back suggest a wide rectangular camera island, with flash and LiDAR Scanner displaced to the right. These details are consistent with the ongoing leaks of molds and renders. Furthermore, the Apple logo is also repositioned, adjusting slightly below the current iteration. A second person can also be seen in the photos, who leans in front of the phone to hide it from the public’s eye, likely a security staff member.
It was recently reported that the iPhone 17 Pro models will feature an additional Camera Control button on the top edge portion of the device, and if you look closely, we can see something shimmering in the distance. Possibly, we are simply feeding our own beliefs, but this year’s iPhone is gearing up to be something unique and different than the previous models.
You have to take note that everything that we are talking about right now is pure speculation and the company could have an entirely different device planned for later this year. Nonetheless, we can be sure that the iPhone 17 Pro will be quite different than the current iPhone 16 Pro models, and possibly worth the upgrade. The reason why today’s leak is significantly important is because it transports rumors into reality. We have seen the large camera plateau in prior leaks along with the realignment of the Apple logo on the back. However, the second Camera Control button, even though it seems unlikely, could be the highlight of the upgrade.
