Today, Apple has seen fit to release the first beta of its upcoming iOS 26.5 update for the iPhone. The latest beta arrives a week after the final version of iOS 26.4 was released to the public. If you are a developer, you can download and install the latest iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 beta 1 on your iPhone and iPad right away.
Apple Has Started Testing iOS 26.5 And iPadOS 26.5 With Developers Just One Week After iOS 26.4 Rolled Out Publicly
Since it is a developer beta, the update will only show on iPhone models enrolled in Apple’s Developer Program. What this means is that only registered developers will see the update in the Settings app on their iPhone and iPad.
To install the updates on your compatible devices, make sure that your Apple ID is linked to your Developer Account, otherwise the update will not appear in the Software Update section. Once that is done and dusted, all you have to do is launch the Settings app and head over to General > Software Update > and install the beta on your supported iPhone or iPad.
iOS 26.4 was a major update, as it brought a plethora of new additions to the table. Since iOS 26.5 is not a point update, we can safely speculate that the company will add a few new additions other than just bug fixes and security enhancements. We will wait for developers to tinker with the latest builds and then draw up a list of what is new in the new updates.
Apart from iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 beta 1, Apple has also released macOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, and additional updates for its existing product line. We will update you as soon as something new is discovered in the latest builds.
As for what this update is not, do not expect any major Apple Intelligence upgrades or Siri enhancements, as the company has delayed the features until next year. It was previously reported that Apple will include these features in its upcoming iOS 27 update, which will be announced at the company’s WWDC 2026 event in June. Share your expectations with us in the comments.
