Apple Announces iOS 27 With Siri And Apple Intelligence Upgrades, Faster Performance, And Liquid Glass Fixes

Apple has officially announced iOS 27 at WWDC 2026, and this year’s update is all about making the iPhone faster, smarter, and a little easier to live with. It is not just one big flashy feature, either. Apple is spreading improvements across performance, Liquid Glass, search, Photos, Maps, AirPods, Health, Mail, Safari, and more.

iOS 27 Brings Faster Performance, Liquid Glass Changes, Smarter Search, And More

Apart from iOS 27, Apple has also announced watchOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and additional updates, so be sure to check that out as well. For now, check out the major features that Apple talked about on stage presenting iOS 27.

Faster App Launches

Apple says apps launch up to 30 percent faster in iOS 27, which should make daily use feel snappier across supported iPhones.

Faster AirDrop Transfers

AirDrop transfers are also getting a major speed boost, with Apple claiming transfers are up to 80 percent faster.

Better Performance On Older iPhones

Older iPhones running iOS 27 should feel more responsive thanks to an optimized CPU scheduler, and all iOS 26-supported iPhones can run iOS 27.

Liquid Glass Improvements

Liquid Glass now includes a transparency slider, sharper icons, updated app icons, more refraction layers, and more customization options.

Smarter Spotlight And Search

Apple has rebuilt search with a new index, which should improve Spotlight, system-wide search, and more relevant suggestions across the iPhone.

Mail Search Gets Better

Mail is getting a new ranking system, improved Top Results, faster message loading, and more reliable search indexing.

Photos Gets Shared Album Upgrades

iCloud Shared Albums now support Android and Windows users, full-resolution photos and videos, more participant permissions, album organization improvements, and better photo search using additional metadata.

Apple Maps Gets Better Flyover And More Accurate Places

Apple Maps is adding enhanced Flyover with richer aerial imagery, more accurate Visited Places, expanded Guides, and offline Maps update improvements.

Health Adds More Tracking Features

Health is getting more advanced cycle tracking, faster data updates, and perimenopause and menopause symptom logging and education.

AirPods Get Custom EQ

Apple is bringing Custom EQ to AirPods, giving users more control over how their wireless headphones sound.

Safari Gets Faster And More Efficient

Safari gets faster web app performance, smoother animations, better scrolling, enhanced power efficiency, and faster JavaScript handling.

Messages, Shortcuts, And Camera Improve Too

Messages gets better syncing, automatic failed-message retries, richer media handling, and better conversation search. Shortcuts gets a redesigned editor, faster indexing, and new automation options. Camera also gets lower power use in Low Power Mode and faster launch behavior.

The first iOS 27 developer beta is expected today, while the public beta should follow later. Moreover, the update supports all iPhone models that support iOS 26, so it’s a win for older models. Overall, iOS 27 looks less like a dramatic redesign and more like Apple fixing a hundred little things that make the iPhone feel faster, cleaner, and smarter every day.
