Apple is reportedly preparing to begin trial production of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup in February, shortly after manufacturing resumes following the Lunar New Year break. The early timing suggests Apple is locking its plans well ahead of schedule, even though the iPhone 18 Pro’s design is expected to be the same as the current iPhone 17 Pro.
Familiar Design Signals Stability, Not Stagnation
According to the Weibo-based leaker Fixed Focus Digital, the iPhone 18 Pro is not expected to receive any noticeable exterior changes. Apple appears to be focusing more on stability than offering extended innovation in terms of design. The decision is not new at all here, as the company has implemented the same approach with the iPhone 16 Pro lineup, which featured the same design as the ones before it, but with only slight variations.
From a production perspective, keeping the same chassis will also reduce complexity, as assemblers are already equipped with most of the same technologies that will be part of the iPhone 18 Pro production.
