Apple just got done with its wave of new hardware as part of its spring timeline, but it is still far from over for the company this year. After rolling out the budget MacBook Neo, a new report claims that the company is also preparing a stronger push in the opposite direction with several Apple Ultra products that could sit above its usual lineup. If the report is accurate, Apple is exploring a broader range of premium devices across multiple categories, which could make this year’s roadmap a lot more interesting.
A New Report Suggests Apple Is Preparing Several Premium Devices That Could Expand Its Ultra Push This Year
According to the latest report shared by Bloomberg, Apple is working on a handful of devices that fit this more premium direction. The most notable addition is the foldable iPhone, which has been rumored for a while and is expected to launch at a much higher price tag than the current iteration of the iPhone lineup. There is also talk of an advanced variant of the AirPods with built-in cameras, a new MacBook Ultra model that will sit above the Pro range, and even more powerful desktop Macs.
Check out the list of “Ultra” products from Apple:
- Foldable iPhone
- AirPods with built-in cameras
- OLED MacBook with touch support
- Foldable iPad
- Larger iMac models with more powerful chips
However, we are not sure if the company will officially call each of these devices “Ultra.” The final branding is still unclear and, to be fair, Apple has never been allergic to messy naming schemes. Still, the report points to a bigger idea, suggesting that these products are being developed as more expensive, more ambitious, and more feature-rich versions compared to the current hardware.
Foldable iPhone and MacBook Could Lead Apple’s New Ultra Product Push
From a news perspective, the foldable iPhone and the upgraded MacBook look like the biggest takeaways. Both would represent much larger hardware changes than a normal annual spec bump, and both would give Apple fresh products to push at the top of the market. The AirPods angle is also worth watching, especially as Apple continues expanding visual intelligence and AI features into more categories.
My take is pretty simple in this regard. Even if only some of these Apple Ultra products arrive this year, the report suggests Apple is becoming more aggressive again at the high end. This notion alone makes this worth watching, because the company has played things fairly safe lately, and this could be the start of a more ambitious hardware cycle.
