Apple has been playing really slow when it comes to enhancing Siri, as it has delayed AI infused features multiple times in the past. However, the company has big plans for the digital assistant this year, as it plans to incorporate Siri inside the Camera too, where iOS 27 is reportedly set to make Visual Intelligence a lot harder to ignore.
Siri Could Finally Make The iPhone Camera Feel Smarter In A Useful Way
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a new Siri mode for the Camera app in iOS 27, placing AI-powered Visual Intelligence alongside the usual photo and video options. The feature currently exists, but it is tied to the Camera Control button, Control Center, the Lock Screen, or the Action Button, and oddly enough, it does not properly live inside the Camera app yet.
The new Siri mode on the Camera app would make the feature more accessible, as some users forget it even exists. This is because Apple tucked the feature away like a secret menu item. Bringing it directly into the Camera app would make Siri feel less like a voice assistant and more like something that actually understands what you’re looking at.
Apple Inc. is planning to embed artificial intelligence more deeply into the iPhone’s camera app, adding a new Siri mode alongside the standard photo and video options in its upcoming iOS 27 operating system.
The new Siri mode is reportedly being designed as an enhanced version of Visual Intelligence, with a new shutter button styled after the Apple Intelligence logo. Gurman also claims that it could let users scan nutrition labels to log dietary information or add contact details by scanning information in front of them.
This also aligns perfectly with Apple’s bigger iPhone 18 Pro plans, which is expected to get one of the biggest camera hardware upgrades ever since the iPhone was launched. Earlier rumors have pointed to a variable aperture main camera and a wider aperture telephoto lens, which will enhance the quality by a lot.
So the main thing is not the software or hardware alone, but both, as iOS 27 makes the Camera app smarter while the iPhone 18 Pro gives it better hardware to work with. Stay tuned for more details on the matter.
