Apple Watch Series 13 Could Get Major Redesign and End Band Compatibility With Older Models

The base Apple Watch Series lineup has boasted more or less the same design for quite some time. While the Ultra variant is expected to come with a major redesign, Apple is making sure that the Apple Watch Series 13 will come with some pretty major improvements.

Apple’s 2027 Apple Watch Series 13 Could Introduce A Redesigned Chassis And A New Band System

According to the leaker Instant Digital on Weibo, the Apple Watch Series 13, which will arrive next year, is slated to receive its due share of upgrades. It is about time Apple makes the change, since the wearable has looked more or less the same since its launch, except for the bigger displays and thinner design.

We have previously heard numerous reports on the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone Ultra, but news related to the company’s wearable has always been scarce. We have previously heard details on the Ultra 4, which is slated to come with a “major redesign,” according to DigiTimes, including sensor changes.

As for what to expect from next year’s Apple Watch Series 13, the leaker states in a series of posts that the wearable is set to bring a new design and, quite possibly, break compatibility with older models of the Apple Watch. He also linked his claim to previous rumors of an Apple Watch X and how it would transition to a new design similar to the iPhone X.

The model will break compatibility with the current Apple Watch models, which means that it will bring a new watch band system. The leaker also stated that if someone is getting a new Apple Watch model next year, they should avoid spending too much on new bands, as the band compatibility would end with next year’s model.

It’s a long shot to expect Apple to release a circular Apple Watch model, but a man can always dream. However, the new app layout in watchOS 27 does give us some hope about it. It’s too early to draw conclusions, as the final word rests with Apple. Would you want a circular Apple Watch? Let us know your preference in the comments below.
