Apple’s 2027 iPhone lineup is already starting to sound more complicated than a normal yearly upgrade. A new rumor claims that the company is testing an iPhone 19 Pro prototype with a quad-curved display, which could bring it closer to the cleaner all-screen design it has been slowly working toward.
iPhone 19 Pro Prototype Has A Quad-Curved Display With Hidden Face ID
According to a Weibo-based leaker known as Digital Chat Station, Apple is currently evaluating an iPhone 19 Pro prototype with a display that curves around all four edges of the device. The prototype reportedly has a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera, but Face ID is slated to be fully hidden under the display.
However, we can deduce a clear distinction from an all-screen iPhone with the details we have, as the leaker states that the device will have a visible selfie camera cutout. What this means is that the components essential for Face ID would be hidden under the display, but it would still mark a major step in the right direction and away from the current Dynamic Island design.
Apple’s 20th Anniversary iPhone Plans Could Make This More Complicated
The rumor is in line with multiple reports published in the past, citing that Apple is planning to launch a special 20th anniversary iPhone in 2027 with a micro-curved display and no visible cutouts. If the iPhone 19 Pro also gets a quad-curved panel, Apple would have less room to visually separate the standard Pro and Pro Max models from its rumored commemorative model. However, it remains to be seen if the special model will replace the current Pros in the lineup or if it will be a standalone device.
We can speculate that Apple keeps the uninterrupted display exclusive to the anniversary model, while the iPhone 19 Pro keeps a hole-punch camera. Apple is reportedly finding it difficult to hide both Face ID and the selfie camera under the display, with the front camera being the tougher problem because image quality could suffer.
We will be keeping a close eye on the latest rumors and reports regarding the design of Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone with an all-screen design, but be sure to take the news with a pinch of salt.
